In memory of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh: "A Flower and a Candle"
A cultural activity was organized in Algeria to commemorate Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed while covering the Israeli forces' storming of Jenin camp.
Algeria – On June 22, the Egyptian National Center for Cinema and Audiovisual (CNCA) and the Egyptian Film Center (CNCE) organized a cultural activity with the motto, “A Flower and a Candle" to commemorate the late Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
Within a part of the activity, the "Palestine Stereo", a 2013 Palestinian drama film written and directed by Rashid Masharawi, was screened in order to shed light on Shireen Abu Akleh's media journey and on different reality for Palestinian women.
During the activity, Shireen Abu Akleh's colleagues made speeches about her life and journalistic activities.
Journalist Shireen Abu Akeh was shot in the head and killed while covering the Israeli forces’ storming of Jenin Camp in the West Bank on May 11, 2022.
