Hürmüz Diril missing for 533 days, one arrested

Hürmüz Diril has been missing for 533 days; Apro Diril has been arrested within the scope of the investigation opened into the missing of Hürmüz Diril.

News Center- 72-year-old Hürmüz Diril and 62-year-old Şimuni Diril went missing in the Kovankaya (Mehrî) village of Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap district on January 11, 2020. The couple was allegedly kidnapped by unknown person/persons. The dead body of Şimuni Diril was found on the banks of Hezil Creek 70 days later. But no news has been received from Hürmüz Diril since she went missing.

On June 20, three people, including villager Apro Diril, were detained within the scope of the investigation opened into the missing of the Chaldean couple. Yesterday, the three people were sent to Şırnak Courthouse. Apro Diril was sent to prison while the other two persons were released under judicial control. Apro Diril had been detained and released before.

What had happened?

72-year-old Hürmüz Diril and 62-year-old Şimuni Diril went missing in the Kovankaya (Mehrî) village of Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap district on January 11, 2020. The couple was allegedly kidnapped by unknown person/persons. The dead body of Şimuni Diril was found on the banks of Hezil Creek 70 days later, on March 20, 2020, by her children. The fate of Hürmüz Diril is still unknown.
