Health academy opened in Raqqa

A Health Academy has opened in Raqqa. “We aim to build a knowledgeable, developed and healthy society,” said Cûd El Mihemed, Co-chair of the Health Council of North and East Syria.

Raqqa- The Health Council of North and East Syria opened a Health Academy in the Raqqa canton of North and East Syria on November 4, 2024.

In an interview with NuJINHA, Cûd El Mihemed, Co-chair of the Health Council of North and East Syria, commented on the importance of opening the health academy in Raqqa.

‘The aim is to improve health sector in society’

“The council had its annual meeting to discuss health issues and hear recommendations. Opening a health academy was one of the recommendations voiced at the meeting,” Cûd El Mihemed told NuJINHA. The academy has provided healthcare courses since it was opened. “Our first courses were named after Martyr Tekîn Goyî. The academy aims to build a knowledgeable, developed and healthy society by providing healthcare courses to healthcare workers. The healthcare workers attending the courses learn knowledge, ability, and skills of primary health care. The aim of the academy is to support healthcare workers and ensure that they understand the health policies and to improve the health sector in society.”

‘Healthcare courses are provided under supervision of medical experts’

All healthcare workers will attend the courses, Cûd El Mihemed said. “All health workers and students at the vocational schools of health services will attend the courses provided by the academy. Those who are interested in health issues or want to improve themselves in the healthcare sector can be volunteers at the academy. The healthcare courses are provided under supervision of medical experts.”

‘Women’s participation in healthcare will build a knowledgeable society’

In her speech, Cûd El Mihemed called on all women to participate in the healthcare workforce. “The role of women in rebuilding and changing society is very important. Women should also participate in the healthcare workforce to build a knowledgeable, developed and healthy society.”
