Hesekê- The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has announced the schedule of Newroz celebrations in the Cizre Region. Today, the members and administrators of Kongra Star in Hesekê Canton lit the first fire of Newroz on the Kelha Sukra hill, located on Mount Kizwanan (Mount Abdulaziz), and celebrated Newroz.

We spoke to Rîma Îso, a member of Kongra Star in Hesekê Canton about the celebration. Wishing a happy Newroz to all peoples, workers, and revolutionaries, Rîma Îso said, “Today, we welcome the fire started by Kawa the Blacksmith against the oppressive regime with the fire of the bodies of the oppressed and the spirit of the fire of women like Rehşan. We dedicate this festival to the Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, revolutionaries, and resisting women. Whenever we rescue a person or liberate a place, we feel the joy of Newroz. We resist and struggle every day to protect our people. And we light the fire of revenge.”

After the women lit the fire, they sang songs about freedom.
