Afghanistan- Femicide is the most extreme manifestation of violence against women and girls. In Afghanistan, women have been subjected to all forms of violence. Since 1978, Afghan women have been victims of not only the patriarchal mindset, but also fundamentalism. The Taliban and other fundamentalist groups see women not as human beings, but as goods and tools. They have oppressed women and girls in the name of Islam.

Despite the persistent and courageous struggle of women against this oppression, fundamentalists continue to promote gender-based violence and a culture of femicide. Perpetrators of femicide often go unpunished in the country. No serious effort is made to identify, arrest, and punish the perpetrators of femicide.
