Riha – Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in 2018 by relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have held a sit-in protest in front of Urfa Courthouse for 70 days. The family held their protest at home between April 30 and May 16 due to full lockdown imposed across Turkey.
Today, the family members came in front of the courthouse in the morning to hold their sit-in protest.
Call for support from Ferit Şenyaşar
Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, said that they held their protest at home for 17 days. “We repeat our demand and call: A massacre was carried out at Suruç State Hospital. Our three members were massacred. No investigation has been opened into the incident. We demand justice. They should fulfill the requirement of the law, and then we will end our protest. We invite everyone, who wants to be our voice, to come here,” Ferit Şenyaşar said.
“Again, we are in front of the courthouse. We will not leave here until all records are uncovered. They tyrannize us. Why doesn’t the prosecutor uncover the records? My son has held in solitary confinement for three years (one of her sons was arrested after being wounded in the attack). Those who killed my children walk freely. We just demand justice,” Emine Şenyaşar said.
Şenyaşar family members were forcibly taken out from the area
According to the reports of Mesopotamia News Agency (MA), Emine Şenyaşar and Ferit Şenyaşar were forcibly taken out from the protesting area by police. The family is keeping their sit-in protest outside the courthouse now.
“Our struggle will continue”
The Şenyaşar family posted a tweet today and said, “Our struggle for JUSTICE continues in front of the Şanlıurfa Courthouse. We will keep protesting in front of the courthouse until the prosecutor begins a legal process against 23 persons, involved in the attack on the hospital. We are the victims and we just demand justice.”
