Dutch journalist Frederike Geerdink detained by KDP
Dutch journalist and writer Frederike Geerdink was detained by the KDP forces while trying to cross the border into North and East Syria. The journalist announced her detention on her social media account. She faces deportation from the region.
News Center- Dutch journalist Frederike Geerdink announced on her Twitter account on Wednesday that she was detained in the Kurdistan Region while trying to cross the border into NE Syria. “I almost crossed the border into northeast-Syria when suddenly the atmosphere changed. I was put in a car with police and brought to Erbil Airport,” she said on Twitter.
“Persona non grata”
The journalist thinks she is being deported because she is “persona non grata” because of her “sharp pen.”
