Call from Eşik for Yeldana Kaharman: Take the necessary steps
Women's Platform for Equality (Eşitlik İçin Kadın Platformu-EŞİK) demanded the committee in the Turkish Parliament to investigate violence against women to invite the relevant ministries in order to investigate Sedat Peker’s allegations about the rape and murder of Yeldana Kaharman. “We call on them to take the necessary steps against the perpetrators and those who involved in closing out the investigations.”
News Center - Yeldana Kaharman, an 18-year-old Kazak woman was found dead at home in the eastern Elazığ province on March 28, 2019. Turkish mafia boss Sedat Peker has released videos on his YouTube channel. In one of his videos, he claimed that Yeldana was raped and then killed.
Female MPs of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Republican People's Party (CHP) and Iyi Party submitted three separate petitions, including the demand of the EŞIK, to the committee in the Turkish Parliament to investigate violence against women. In the petitions, they have demanded Turkish Justice Minister and Interior Minister to be invited to the committee to give information about the murder of Yeldana Kaharman.
Female MPs Aysu Bankoğlu, Gamze Taşcıer, Neslihan Hancıoğlu, Suzan Şahin, Filiz Kerestecioğlu, Semra Güzel and Şenol Sunat attended the committee’s today meeting and they submitted the petitions to Öznur Çalık, the head of the committee and they demanded Turkish Justice Minister and Interior Minister to be invited to the committee to give information about the murder of Yeldana Kaharman.
