Activist Sumeye Karger released on bail
Activist Sumeye Karger was reportedly released from prison on Wednesday after her family paid on 500 million Iranian Toman ($20.000) bail.
Tehran – On October 16, 2020, the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) raided the house of Somayeh Kargar, a Kurdish and women’s rights activist, and arrested her. Her computer and mobile phone were confiscated by the Iranian police. After being questioned and tortured at Evin Prison for four months, she was transferred to Qarchak Prison in February 2021.
The Iranian court ruled the temporary release of Somayeh Kargar on 500 million Iranian Toman ($20.000) bail but she remained in jail because she and her family couldn’t afford to pay the bail.
According to received reports, activist Sumeye Karger was released from prison on Wednesday (April 28) after her family paid on 500 million Iranian Toman ($20.000) bail.
