14 civilians killed in paramilitary shelling on refugee camp in Sudan

At least 14 civilians were killed in shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a market in Abu Shouk camp, located in north of El Fasher, Sudan's North Darfur State, on Sunday.

News Center- For more than two years, Sudan has been experiencing the world's largest humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The civil war in the country has killed tens of thousands of civilians and displaced millions.

At least 14 civilians were killed and others injured in shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a market in Abu Shouk refugee camp, located in north of El Fasher, Sudan's North Darfur State, on Sunday.

“14 people were killed and others were injured as a result of artillery shelling by the RSF targeting the Nevasha market in Abu Shouk camp,” the Emergency Room of Abu Shouk camp said in a statement on Sunday.

Abu Shouk camp is an internally displaced people in northern El Fasher, controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The RSF controls most of the vast Darfur region in western Sudan.

“Omdurman is facing its fourth major electricity blackout this year, following reported RSF drone strikes on three power stations in Khartoum State on May 14,” said Doctors Without Borders /Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Sudan said in a statement on Sunday.

“The blackout has affected almost all of Omdurman, including the MSF-supported Ministry of Health hospitals, Al Nao and Al Buluk. Both hospitals currently lack electricity, oxygen, and water. Healthcare at every level is being disrupted,” the MSF said, condemning all attacks on civilian infrastructure. “These strikes are compounding an already dire humanitarian crisis. They must stop immediately, as they violate international humanitarian law and put lives at risk.”
