93 killed in 72 hours in Syria... a toll reflecting a dangerous security breakdown

"Syrian Observatory: 93 killed in 72 hours in Syria, including women and children, due to criminal acts, family feuds, and security chaos, warning of absent accountability and weapon spread."

News Center – Human losses continue to increase in Syria amid clear security fragility, the overlap of factors of chaos and the spread of weapons, along with the heavy legacy of a war that lasted for years.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the killing of 93 people, including women and children, in the past 72 hours alone. This toll includes victims of criminal acts, family feuds, cases resulting from widespread security chaos, in addition to those killed by war remnants that continue to claim lives. A mass grave was also discovered for victims who died under mysterious circumstances. These figures reflect a dangerous escalation in violence in various forms across many Syrian regions.

The Observatory noted today, Monday, May 4, that these numbers, despite their harshness, may not represent the full picture of the scale of the tragedy, affirming that as long as instability continues, civilians remain the weakest link, paying the price of chaos and division.

The Syrian Observatory renewed its warnings about the continued state of "security breakdown" and the absence of legal accountability, which has given perpetrators a green light to continue their crimes. It called for the need to activate an independent judiciary, work seriously to withdraw the widespread weapons, and stop the violations committed by security apparatuses and affiliated factions, in order to preserve what remains of the life and dignity of the Syrian citizen, who now faces death in all its forms on a daily basis.
