Civiil activist: Unity is a vital necessity, and women are a fundamental force in protecting rights

Civil activist Fermesk Rizgar affirmed that retreating from unity negatively affects the Kurdish cause and weakens its ability to face challenges, and that popular movements for freedom should not remain fleeting reactions.

Ranya — Upon scrutinizing the history of the Kurdish people, it becomes clear that it is a history rich with heroism and achievements, but at the same time filled with tragedies and unrelenting attempts at occupation that have not stopped for decades. Many believe that one of the most prominent reasons why Kurds have been vulnerable to these challenges is the absence of internal unity, which has allowed various forces to exploit divisions and weaken the Kurdish position.

Given the circumstances the region is going through today, unity emerges as the most important means the Kurdish people can rely on to face threats. Unity, as many experiences indicate, is capable of thwarting the schemes of those who benefit from division.

This became clearly evident during the recent attacks on Rojava, where the unified Kurdish position confused relevant political parties and pushed them to deal more seriously with Kurdish demands. This confirms that the best option for the future is to strengthen internal cohesion, and that any retreat from this path could negatively affect future generations.

"The people can punish any party that stands against unity"

Regarding the importance of unity and the role of society in protecting it, civil activist Fermesk Rizkar from Ranya in the Kurdistan Region said that the attacks on Rojava clearly revealed that although the Kurds' regions are dispersed, they form one body. "If a Kurdish finger bleeds in Qamishli, its pain is felt in Ranya, Sine (Sanandaj), and Amed (Diyarbakır)."

She believes that the popular movement that appeared in the streets during recent events should not remain merely an emotional reaction but should be transformed into organized institutional work, affirming that the people have the ability to hold any party that obstructs the path of unity accountable, whether through the ballot box or through civil and social pressure.

"Women must unite their voices to protect their rights"

Regarding the role of women in this phase, she explained that women have always been among the most affected groups during wars and conflicts. From this standpoint, she calls on women activists and feminist organizations to unite their voices and work collectively to influence public policies.

She stressed that women's memoranda and demands must resonate with governments and institutions, affirming that the voice of one woman in any part of Kurdistan should find its echo in the other parts.

She believes that women joining the path of unity is not a secondary option but an essential step to protect their rights and strengthen their role in society.

Fermesk Rizkar expressed her support for the statement issued by 200 writers and activists on the occasion of Newroz (Nowruz), which called for strengthening unity, describing the statement as a "final alarm bell" for political parties, affirming that Newroz is not just a holiday but a symbol of resistance and freedom.

She concluded her speech by calling on independent national figures to play a larger role in the coming period, in order to embody the true message of Newroz based on unity and freedom, and to return to a common umbrella that brings everyone together.
