Morocco__With the participation of the top teams to emerge from continental qualifiers, the finals of the 2026 Africa Women Cup of Nations continue, as teamd from West,East,and Southern Africa compete for the title, amid intensive technical preparations and high stakes for continental exposure.

Morocco's women's national team continues its positive results at the 2026 Africa Women Cup of Nations finals, after securing a valuable 1-0 win over its Algerian counterpart on the evening of Thursday, July 30, in the second round of Group A matches.

The scoreless deadlock held until the 84th minute,when Sanaa Mssoudi found the back of the net, handing the "Atlas Lionesses"three valuable points that strengthened their hold on the top of the group.

The match came after strong starts for both national teams in the tournament, as Morocco opened its campaign with a commanding 4-0 win over Kenya, while Algeria began its participation with a 2-0 victory over Senegal.

Morocco raised its tally to six points at the top of Group A , ahead of Algeria and Senegal, who each have three points, while Kenya remains without any points after losing to Senegal 1-0 in the same round.

In the third round,Morocco will face Senegal,While Algeria takes on Kenya, in two decisive matchups that will determine which teams advance to the quarterfianls.

This win serves as a fresh boost for Moroccan women's football,which has seen a growing presence on the continental stage in recent years, amid rising interest in developing the sport and expanding women's participation in athletic competitions.

Morocco is hosting the finals of the 2026 Africa Women Cup of Nations from July 26 through August 16, with 16 national teams from across the continent taking part in the largest edition of the tournament since its inception — a step that reflects the continued growth of women's football in Africa.
