Raqqa- 23-year-old Pervin Dummar studies agricultural engineering at Al-Sharq university in Raqqa and is one of the young women, who do equestrian sports. Talking about her passion for equestrianism, she said:
“The opening of the equestrian club in Raqqa encouraged me to participate in training and have a unique experience. I was impressed by the enthusiastic and interesting atmosphere of the horse racing at the hippodrome. I have been interested in animals since my childhood. Horses are also domestic animals and have great harmony and connection with humans.”
‘You should be patient’
Speaking about the benefits of horseback riding, she said, “It has mental benefits. You gain new skills by learning to ride and care for horses and it further contributes to an improved state of mind. When I was under a lot of pressure at school, I started going to the club as a space to throw away negative energy and replace it with positive energy. Horseback riding also helps you to strengthen your body and balance.”
Pervin Dummar received training at the Equestrian Club for a while. “The first thing that you learn is the safety rules when riding a horse. You should wear helmets, hats and protective vests. You should place the saddle on the horse's back in the hollow just below the withers. You should be patient when riding a horse.”
‘Women should believe in themselves’
A person must have a strong will to achieve her/his goals and dreams, Pervin Dummar said. “Women should believe in themselves and be brave so that they can take advantage of the opportunities. The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria supports women to develop their skills and realize their dreams.”
