Ankara- Women’s Council of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) held a meeting at the party’s headquarters to discuss the political developments and to realize their plans for the next period. HDP Co-chair Pervin Buldan made an opening speech. Commenting on the developments in Turkey, Pervin Buldan emphasized that they will announce a declaration on September 27. “Women will again embrace our declaration stronger.  We will dedicate it to all women of the country and all women around the world.”

“Women are volunteers to govern the country”

In her speech, Pervin Buldan said:

“As of today, we are volunteers to govern this country as women. We are strong enough to do this. Surely, the current monist male ruling party is aware of our strong progress. For this reason, the whole of society and as well as women wage struggle.  That’s why women face oppression, detention, arrest, violence, and Turkey withdrew from the Istanbul Convention, which protects women against violence.  They are planning to maintain their patriarchal order by blocking women. But they will face defeat.

“HDP always demands peace against war”

“For this purpose, they filed a closure case against the HDP in order to end the participation of women and the oppressed in politics. Their aim is to silence women and the oppressed and to block their demands for democracy, peace, and justice. HDP has demanded peace since its foundation. HDP has waged a struggle for equality, saying, “We should have peace in this country and we shouldn’t allow our children to be killed anymore.” The HDP has demanded equal wages for equal work. The HDP has advocated that everyone has the right to work. HDP always demands peace against war, a solution against chaos. The HDP has demanded gender equality against all kinds of crimes against women and children. And we will continue to demand these.

“The ruling party is responsible”

“The ruling party is responsible for every killed woman and child. AKP promises to respect the rule of law principle not the laws of the superiors during its political campaigns. But the AKP only respects the laws of its palace. That’s why injustice practices increase in this country. There is, of course, a growing struggle demanding justice against these injustice practices. 84 million people demand justice.

“Declaration will be announced on September 27”

“Our party will announce its stance and solutions to the main problems in Turkey in a declaration to be announced on September 27. Women will again embrace our declaration stronger.  We will dedicate it to all women of the country and all women around the world.”
