Sulaymaniyah- While the Turkish state has intensified its attacks on North and East Syria since November 19, the Iranian regime has carried out massacres to quell protests since September 16. Reacting to the massacres carried out against the Kurdish people by the Turkish state and the Iranian regime, the women of Southern Kurdistan emphasized that Kurdish women had led a historical resistance and that the Turkish state and the Iranian regime could not intimidate women.

‘The Turkish state and the Iranian regime cannot annihilate the Kurdish people’

Condemning the attacks on their region, Fatma Hamid, resident of Southern Kurdistan, said, “These attacks are inhuman attacks. The Turkish state claims at every opportunity that it protects human rights; however, it keeps carrying out brutal attacks. It uses chemical weapons and heavy weapons in its attacks. Instead of protecting its people and its territories, the Kurdistan Regional Government remains silent against the Turkish attacks. We condemn this silence.”

Fatma Hamid emphasized that the Kurdish people are resisting people fighting for their own homeland and rights, “The Kurdish people never occupy any place. But the Turkish state uses prohibited weapons against Kurds. The aim of the Turkish state is to destroy our nature and annihilate the Kurdish people.”

Noting that women are especially targeted in the attacks, Fatma Hamid said, “Women should never bow down and resist like the women of Kobanê because women are first targeted in the attacks on Kurdistan. Women should rise up and fight their identity.”

‘Women must take a stance’

Berivan Muhammed, member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) called on women to take a stance against the Turkish attacks because Turkey has intensified its attacks both on Southern and Western Kurdistan to annihilate the Kurdish people.
