Istanbul - Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Pervin Buldan met with women journalists at Taxim Hill Hotel located in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district regarding Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. A banner reading, “Istanbul Convention keeps alive, We don’t give up on the Istanbul convention” was hung on the wall of the meeting hall of the hotel. Many female journalists and HDP female MPs participated in the meeting.

Pervin Budan made a speech during the meeting and stated that the Istanbul Convention, protecting millions of women’s rights was withdrawn at midnight, “this move is a blow against women. A new blow has been added to the blows did in many areas. Surely, this blow is not the first. It was neither a sudden nor an immediate blow. The Withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention is one of the blows against women’s gains.”
