Iraqi parliamentarians: We have many documents to push Turkey
Since April 23, Turkey has attacked Metina, Zap, and Avaşin-Basyan region of Iraqi Kurdistan with air and howitzer strikes under the name of “Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt operations”. The vineyards and orchards of the Christian Çelkê village have been completely burned, and 1,600 acres of forest in the village of Keste have turned into ashes due to airstrikes. Moreover, the forest area on the border under the control of soldiers and village guards has been destroyed. The Iraqi parliamentarians demand this issue to be taken on the international agenda.

Baghdad- Iraqi parliamentarians call on the government of Baghdad to show a clear and firm stance against Turkey’s attacks, becoming more intensive day by day. Iraqi Parliament members Nada Shaker Jawdat and Hassan Shaker spoke to our news agency about Turkey's attacks.
“Even though the attacks are said to have been carried out against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the destruction of houses, cutting of trees, the bombing of civilians, and deliberate killing of the Kurdish people cannot be justified what is happening. Turkey has burned villages and destroyed nature,” Iraqi MP Nada Shaker Jawdat said the issue has been discussed intensively at the Baghdad parliament.
“Is there a deal?”
Nada Shaker Jawdat called on the government of Baghdad to show a clear stance against the attacks of Turkey. She also highlighted that the will of civilians, nature, and Iraq have been looted in the attacks. “The silence of the government of Baghdad surprised us and continues to surprise us. The people of Kurdistan and Iraq feel uncomfortable with the situation, the members of the parliament also feel uncomfortable but the government keeps silent. The silence of the government raises this question, ‘Is there a deal between the government of Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional government about Turkey?”
“Turkey must stop targeting civilians”
“The ongoing attacks are very serious attacks; this situation shows how Turkey doesn’t care about the sovereignty of Iraq, therefore, the executive authorities must take steps to prevent any danger against the Iraqi Kurds and Turkey must stop targeting civilians,” Nada Shaker Jawdat said that the government must demand the UN Security Council to investigate the violations committed by Turkey in Iraqi territory. “We must take decisive steps in this regard,” Nada Shaker Jawdat noted that this issue is not Kurdistan or Iraq.
“Violations are repeated with false excuses”
“Everyone knows no one will accept the violation of Iraqi sovereignty. Neighboring countries must respect Iraqi sovereignty, just as Iraq respects it. Unfortunately, the violations are repeated with false excuses,” Iraqi parliamentarian Hassan Shaker said.
“We have many documents to push Turkey”
Hassan Shaker emphasized that Turkey targets nature, cuts trees and takes them to Turkey, bombs houses, and kills civilians under the name of military targets. Hassan Shaker called for immediate interference to stop Turkey’s attacks. “We have called for dialogue and negotiation. Since Iraq imports over $16 billion annually, we have many documents, especially documents about trade exchanges, to push Turkey. The Relations Committee of the Iraqi Parliament will make a move.”
