News Center- The “Justice Vigil” launched by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) after the HDP MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu was stripped of his status as a deputy continues at the Parliament. Shortly after, it came out that the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation has filed a case for demanding the closure of the party.

HDP Diyarbakır MP Dersim Dağ noted that their party has been under unlawful pressure since 2015 and she said, “Thousands of our comrades, including our co-chairs, elected mayors and politicians, and members have been detained or arrested. Trustees were appointed to municipalities held by our party; our works were unlawfully prevented by law enforcement forces or by judgment. They used all methods to break our ties with people, and they still use.”

“The closure case is a vain effort”

Stating that the closure case is the last act to prevent the HDP, Dersim Dağ said, “We have never bowed to these fascistic and unlawful practices that we have faced so far, and we have never taken a step back. Because we are the successors, who never gave up their struggle and raised their struggle under all conditions. The AKP-MHP government clearly reveals its incapability. They are trying to get what they could not achieve through elections by using the means of the state.” Dilan Dağ told us that the closure case is a vain effort.

“We will overcome this process stronger”

Dersim Dağ told us that they will overcome this process stronger, “They have tried to blow the will of the Kurdish people many times until today; they closed our political parties; they appointed trustees to our municipalities; they arrested our politicians but the Kurdish people always manage to overcome the difficulties stronger. The current state even cannot see this historical reality. They can never frighten or intimidate us by arresting us and closing our parties. If they want to close the HDP, they can do but they cannot do anything to stop the people’s will, struggle.”

Dirty bargain of AKP-MHP coalition

HDP Şırnak MP Nuran İmir told us that the AKP-MHP coalition has tried to erase the HDP from the political scene for a long time. She considers the closure case is a dirty bargain of the People's Alliance to keep it alive.

“They start such a dirty bargain to keep their alliance alive. The AKP administration, a so-called democracy follower, has surrendered to the MHP. If they don’t surrender, the alliance will break and an early election will be held; the AKP will be thrown in the trash can. The AKP and MHP are afraid of this. For this reason, they say if we are going, the HDP should come with us. But they are wrong as they were in the past. The HDP is not a party belonging to a person or group. HDP is an ideological people’s movement. The HDP will exist as long as the people exist.”
