“We called police but they didn’t come”
Remziye Yoldaş’s mother Sevile Tura spoke during the hearing, “He entered the shop and tried to choke my daughter but he left when he saw my son Mustafa. He always walked around our house and threatened my daughter. We called the police but they didn’t come,” Sevile Tura said.
A witness of the incident said he saw a woman and man arguing in front of his shop but he didn’t see how Remziye Yoldaş was killed.
The prosecution demanded Veysi Yoldaş to be jailed pending the trial. Ministry of Family and Social Services lawyers and the lawyers of the IHD and Diyarbakır Bar Association Women’s Rights Center demanded to attend the trial.
“The defendant shows himself as pure as the driven snow. Remziye's complaints were not taken into account by the authorities. Everyone knows that the defendant's aim was to kill Remziye,” lawyer Nilda Baltalı said. The court rejected the demand of the IHD and Diyarbakır Bar Association.
The court adjourned the next hearing to November 4.
