Turkish court approves indictment seeking prison sentence for filmmaker Sibel Tekin

A Turkish court has approved an indictment seeking a prison sentence for documentary filmmaker Sibel Tekin. The first hearing of the trial will be held on February 23.

News Center- On December 16, 2022, police raided the home of Sibel Tekin, a documentary filmmaker and journalist, in Ankara as part of an investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. After a night in custody, she was transferred to prison on charges of “being a member of a (terrorist) organization”.

The Ankara 26th High Criminal Court has approved the indictment seeking a prison sentence for Sibel Tekin. The first hearing of the trial will be held on February 23, 2023.
