Amed – Gülistan Nazlıer, a member of the Rosa Women's Association, was taken into custody in Diyarbakır on June 8, 2020. Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court sentenced her to six years and three months in prison on charges of “being a member of a terrorist organization”.

The prison sentence given to Gülistan Nazlıer, who was released from prison under judicial control after three months in prison, was brought to the Supreme Court of Appeal by her lawyers.

The court has overturned the prison sentence given to Gülistan Nazlıer, saying, “Adopting the ideology of a terrorist organization is not sufficient for membership”.

The court has also stated that participation in women’s activities does not constitute sufficient evidence for “being a member of a terrorist organization”.

The first hearing of retrial will be held on September 14 by the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court.
