“Stop attacks on Zirgan”
Evin Cuma, the administrator of the Human Rights Association in the Cizre Region, reported that two people were killed and 11 people were wounded in the attacks on the Zirgan region and surrounding areas. She calls on public opinion at the international level and human rights organizations to stop attacks on the region.

Qamishlo – Turkey has attacked Til Temir and Zirgan towns of Hesekê since August 14. A woman and a child were reportedly killed and 11 people were wounded in the attacks of Turkey. Wounded people were taken to a hospital in Dirbêsiyê. Evin Cuma, the administrator of the Human Rights Association in the Cizre Region, and the mother of one of the wounded children spoke to our news agency about Turkish attacks on the region.
“Turkey is committing a war crime”
Reporting that nine villages were bombed, Evin Cuma said, “Attacks on the region close to Serêkaniyê have increased. Since 14 August, the attacks on Til Temir, Zirgan, and its countryside have continued. A 37-year-old woman was killed in the attack on Til Temir on August 14. The houses of civilians were bombed in the attacks on Zirgan on August 17. Two persons, a woman, and a child, were killed and 11 people were wounded in these attacks. Wounded people were taken to hospitals located in Dirbêsiyê, Hesekê, and Qamishlo.” Evin Cuma also reported that the villagers had escaped from the attacked villages and took shelter in the surrounding villages. “Turkish state wants to create fear in the region by attacking. According to international law, this is a war crime. Targeting civilians and their property is a war crime. Turkey is committing a war crime now,” Evin Cuma said.
“Stop attacks”
Evin Cuma drew attention to Turkey’s policies and said, “Turkish state wants to depopulate the region. As Human Rights Association, we call on public opinion at the international level and human rights organizations to stop attacks on civilians. They should push the Turkish state to stop these attacks and end the occupation of Syria.”
“My house has been targeted twice”
Kelsuma Remezan is originally from Serekaniyê but she and her family took shelter in Zirgan and live there for two years. “Our house was bombed at 8 pm. A mortar hit our house before we left the house. One of my children was wounded in the attack. My house has been targeted twice,” Kelsuma Remezan told our news agency that the states don’t help them.
