“He threatened me”

Nergiz İbiş was threatened by Ramazan Akçan while she was going to her garden. After receiving threats, she tried to return to her home but Ramazan Akçan battered her with a stick until she lost consciousness. “I will shed your blood, I have a prosecutor relative. The gendarme and the police stand by me. So if I kill all of you, I will be released,” Ramazan Akçan told Nergiz İbiş.

21 stitches were used to close her wound

After the incident, Nergiz İbiş was taken to a hospital and underwent an operation. After feeling better, she went to a police station and filed a criminal complaint against Ramazan Akçan. After an investigation was launched into the incident, an indictment was prepared against Ramazan Akçan for “intentional wounding.”

“I am not safe”

Ramazan Akçan was released after being held in custody for two hours. Nergiz İbiş has to live in the same village with Ramazan Akçan. “I am not safe here,” she told us. I see this man almost every day. He still says no one will arrest or put him in prison no matter what he does. I am not safe here and I live in fear when my husband and children are not at home.”

“All I want is justice”

Emphasizing that all she wants is justice, Nergiz İbiş told us, “He shouldn’t go unpunished. The state didn’t hold him in custody for even a day. He battered, threatened, and insulted me but he was released. All I want is justice. He should be punished. He has threatened everyone in the village and he says no one can put him in prison.”
