Iran sentences activist Gelareh Abbasi to more than 4 years in prison

An Iranian court has sentenced activist Gelareh Abbasi to four years and three months in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the regime.”

News Center- Gelareh Abbasi, a political activist, has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison by Branch 23 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the regime”, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported on Thursday.

On February 16, 2025, Gelareh Abbasi was arrested at her home in western Tehran by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and transferred to Evin Prison. On March 28, 2025, she was released from Evin prison on bail of one billion tomans.

The activist was previously sentenced to two years and six months in prison by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the regime”. After serving several months in Evin prison, she was released from prison in February 2023.
