Cizre Co-mayor Güler Yerbasan sentenced to prison

Güler Yerbasan Tunç, Co-mayor of Şırnak’s Cizre district, has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison for her activities on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in 2022.

News Center- Many women, including Cizre Co-mayor Güler Yerbasan Tunç, were present at a statement released in the Qilêban (Uludere) district of Şırnak on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in 2022. After the statement, an investigation was launched into Güler Tunç on charges of “opposing the Law on Demonstrations and Marches No. 2911.”

The final hearing of the trial against her was held at the Criminal Court of First Instance on Thursday.

The court sentenced Güler Tunç to one years and three months in prison on charges of “opposing the Law on Demonstrations and Marches No. 2911.”
