Female sellers fined for refusing male sellers to work in all-women district market
Female sellers have been fined by the appointed mayor of Amed’s Bağlar Municipality for refusing male sellers to work in “Jiyan District Market”, all-women district market.
Amed- Seven female sellers have been fined 427 TL by the appointed mayor of Amed’s Bağlar Municipality for refusing male sellers to work in “Jiyan District Market”, the all-women district market. The women have been banned from working in the market for three months.
400 men sellers have been allowed to work at the all-women district market, “Jiyan District Market” during the meeting led by Hüseyin Beyoğlu, who was appointed as a trustee to Bağlar Municipality won by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Amed in the last local election.
But female sellers of the market spoke to the media outlets and announced that they don’t want men to work in their market. Seven female sellers have been reportedly fined 427 TL by the appointed mayor Hüseyin Beyoğlu for refusing male sellers to work in their markets. The women have been banned from working in the market for three months. The women stated that they received threats.
