53 women workers lost their lives in the first 6 months of 2022, report says
842 workers lost their lives at their workplaces across Turkey in the first six months of 2022, according to a report released by the Laborer Health and Occupational Safety Assembly (İSİG).
News Center- Laborer Health and Occupational Safety Assembly (İSİG) has released its report for the first six months of 2022. 842 workers lost their lives at their workplaces in Turkey; 120 in January, 109 in February, 121 in March, 129 in April, 176 in May and 187 in June, according to the report.
53 out of 842 workers who lost their lives were women workers. Five of the workers were children and 17 of them were children/teenagers.
According to the report, most of the workers, who lost their lives at their workplaces, were working in the construction sector. Others were working in the sectors of agriculture, mining, and healthcare. The İSİG announced the causes of death in the report; the most common causes of death were traffic/shuttle accidents, falling from high places. 48 of the workers were refugees.
26 out of 842 workers (3,08%) were members of trade unions while 816 workers (96,92%) were not members of any trade unions.
