Mizgîn Tahîr is a Kurdish opera singer born in Serê Kaniyê (Ras al-Ayn city in northeastern Syria) in 1976. Mizgîn’s father and mother are also singers. She became interested in dengbêj (Kurdish storytellers). After completing her primary and secondary school education in Rojava, Mizgîn Tahîr went to Damascus for her university education. While studying archeology at university, she wanted to follow her passion for music. She began her opera education with the support of her teachers. In 1999, she won university and began to study at the conservatory of music. Opera singer Mizgîn Tahîr also gave opera and instrument lessons for a while at Çigerxwîn Cultural Center in Amed (Diyarbakır). In 2019, she returned to Rojava and she keeps working on music at Kêvana Zêrin Women’s Cultural Center. Let’s listen to her amazing voice together…
