The Unwomanly Face of War consists of the stores of women resisted living and fought on the front lines during the brutal reality of the WWII.

In the book, Svetlana chronicles the experiences of the Soviet women who fought on the front lines, on the home front, and in the occupied territories. The women, nurses, doctors, pilots, tank drivers, machine-gunners, and snipers battled alongside men, and yet, after the victory, their efforts and sacrifices were forgotten. She was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature “for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time.” She is the first writer from Belarus to receive the award.
