Young Women's Union starts vocational course for women in Deir ez-Zor
The Young Women’s Union has started a vocational course in Deir ez-Zor to promote women’s economic empowerment. “Women attending the course want to start their own business,” said Beşayir El-Ali, the course director.

Deir ez-Zor- The Young Women’s Union has started a sewing course in the city of Hajin, Deir ez-Zor Canton of North and East Syria in order to promote young women’s labor force participation and women’s economic empowerment.
This initiative aims to support the development of the local workforce and increase job opportunities for young women and men in the region. Women attending the course will receive a certificate after completing the course successfully.
Women attending the course learn theoretical and practical knowledge such as sewing techniques, designing clothes and fabric types.
“We provide women with the necessary skills to enter the labor market,” Beşayir El-Ali, the course director, told NuJINHA.
20 young women have attended the 20-day course, which started on June 15, 2025. “The course will last 20 days and the attendees will receive a certificate after completing the course successfully. “We teach the attendees how to measure, cut fabric, use sewing machines and embroider on clothes.”
In the city, many women look for alternative sources of income due to the economic crisis affecting Syria. “Most of the attendees want to start their own business after completing the course. The attendees improve themselves every day and this proves how useful this course is.”
The Young Women’s Union has organized vocational courses for young women in the city and provides social and psychological support to them. “We plan to start literacy, computer nursing and healthcare courses for young women because these skills can be the key to a better future for the young women in the region,” Beşayir El-Ali said, stressing that such courses are very important for young women in the region.
