Xanav Xelil: ‘Special War’ targets Disintegration of Society and Weakens its Role
Xanav Xelîl, a Star Congress coordinator in Kobani, warns that "special war" targets societal disintegration and calls for organizing society, raising awareness, and strengthening women's and youth roles.

Kobani — "Special war" is one of the most prominent methods that has evolved in the 21st century, emerging as a mechanism used by dominant powers across political, economic, social, cultural, and media spheres. Through these methods, societies are subjected to control, their will is weakened, their historical memory is erased, and their thoughts and behaviors are directed in line with the interests of dominant powers.
Today, this war is waged through multiple methods, including information and media warfare, psychological, economic, cultural, technological, cyber, and social warfare. In this domain, women and youth—as two of the most fundamental groups in society—are among the most targeted by "special war" policies.
"Our Primary Goal Is Organization in All Fields"
In this context, the Star Congress has been carrying out an awareness campaign in Kobani for some time. Regarding this campaign, Xanav Xelîl, a member of the Star Congress coordination body, said: "Our primary mission in the Star Congress is to organize society, and women in particular, across various fields. From the earliest beginnings of human society, women have played an essential role in uniting and organizing communities around their values, culture, and standards. However, the development of systems and civilizations based on patriarchal dominance gradually marginalized women's role and stripped them of their natural place within society."
She added: "From this perspective, our efforts today are focused on restoring the authentic roots of our society, and consolidating women's awareness based on collective work, equality, and democracy. We believe that women are the fundamental force capable of driving this transformation and bringing about change, and therefore they should assume a more active and pioneering role in various fields."
"Attacks Targeting Society"
Xanav Xelîl drew attention to the most impactful methods affecting society today: "Very extensive attacks are being waged targeting our society's values, standards, and culture. When the enemies of our society—especially the enemies of women—failed to destroy society politically and militarily, they are now attempting to do so through 'special war.'"
She explained that "many concrete examples can be seen when looking at what is happening in Kobani, Rojava, and all of Kurdistan. Foremost among these methods is the spread of narcotics within society, as well as the use of the internet, digital media, and various commercial applications associated with them. These methods being developed within society carry great risks, and unfortunately, very dangerous schemes are being orchestrated in this domain."
She noted that when societies occupy their dynamic forces with empty and dangerous issues, they will inevitably drift away from their cultural essence, and the people's revolution will be emptied of its content. "For this reason, the enemy exploits these sensitive points to weave various schemes, and works to lure our women and youth into these traps."
Launching a Comprehensive Campaign
Xanav Xelîl emphasized the importance of the awareness campaign they are implementing: "We in the Star Congress consider society's awareness in these areas and taking a stance against 'special war' as a responsibility that falls upon us. That is why we have launched a comprehensive campaign. Within the framework of the campaign, we hold meetings with residents, and gather with various segments of society in communes, institutions, cities, and villages."
She concluded her remarks by affirming that "it is important that we are able to protect our existence, identity, culture, values, and standards. Just as we have managed to preserve our existence in the face of various forms of attacks until today, we must not fall under the influence of 'special war,' which is one of the most dangerous methods used to destroy society." She called for a unified and joint stance, and for preserving values and not relinquishing them.
