Qamishlo- Attacks on the territory of NE Syria and civilians living there continue. The citizens, who were subjected to attacks of ISIS for years, now are subjected to Turkish attacks. Welîda Botî, a member of the Kongreya Star Coordination, commented on the last Turkish attack on the Zirgan town of Hasekê on August 17, “Turkey should face trial according to the rules of international law.”

Welîda Botî recalled that the attacks against civilians were carried out not only on the territory of NE Syria but also on Shengal on August 16 and 17. “Targeting hospitals is a war crime,” she said.

“There are instigators”

Welîda Botî told us that Turkey has been carrying out attacks but there are instigators of attacks. “The Turkish state continues its attacks on the rights and the will of the peoples in the region by carrying out very dirty plans. All powers that don’t ‘stop’ these attacks are as responsible as those who carry out the attacks. The attacks on Yazidis, who have lived under genocidal attacks for years, and targeting a hospital are unacceptable. We don’t accept the attacks on our region.”

Welîde Botî said that the Middle East is being shaped again and Turkey wants to get its share in the Middle East. She indicated that the imperial states “can only use Turkey as a pawn in the governance of the Middle East”.

“ISIS was used but now Turkey is being used”

“ISIS posed danger to peoples and beliefs in the region for years,” Welîde Botî said, “But now Turkey poses this danger. ISIS was used in the past but now Turkey is being used. People living in Turkey should raise their voices against these attacks on the region.”
