Samar Sahyoun: Spend time with positive people
The economic crisis in Lebanon affects women the most as in the countries of the Middle East. Lebanese women have been affected by both economic crises and challenges so some of them have suffered from both mental and physical health. Special educator Samar Sahyoun advises women to do exercise, eat healthy foods, spend time with positive people and read the portraits of successful people.

Beirut– Lebanese are negatively affected by the economic crisis, like all women in the Middle East. They have faced difficulties and challenges at various levels. The economic crisis and challenges have negatively affected women’s mental and physical health. We spoke to special educator Samar Sahyoun about the effects of the economic crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic on women.
Women are more affected by crises
Samar Sahyoun indicated that Lebanese women have faced economic, social, and health problems and they have carried more of the burden, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Talking about the fuel crisis in Lebanon, Samar Sahyoun said, “They have to wait hours to but fuel. Women have less time now and this affects their working lives.”
Stating that the economic crisis and the pandemic have affected all people, Samar Sahyoun said that women are psychologically affected by these crises.
“Sleep is essential for health
Samar Sahyoun talked about how women can protect themselves from ongoing crises in Lebanon, “Women should make an effort to get enough sleep regularly because sleep is essential for health and well-being. We should determine our daily duties and accept the current situation. If we know what to do every day, we will know how to spend our energy.”
“Do exercise for a healthy life”
Samar Sahyoun expressed that physical activity and sports are also essential for a healthy life. “A healthy mind in a healthy body,” said Samar Sahyoun and advised women to “not eat healthy food” and to “stay away from unhealthy food”. “They should do exercise and sports to have a healthier life. They should spend time with positive people.”
Call on women
“Women are stronger,” Samar Sahyoun said, “If we want to have a healthy life, we must first be patient. They should do their best during crises. We always need inspiration. For this reason, they should read the portraits of successful people. Healthy people can change their society.”
