Displaced women of Afrin, who face being forcibly displaced again, called on the international community to stop the ongoing Turkish attacks, “We will stay here,” they added.
RAPARİN BAKER
Shahba- The Turkish shelling in the Efrin Canton’s Shahba region and Şerawa town continues. Displaced women of Afrin living in the Shahba region and Şerawa town are subjected to attacks every day. The attacks also targeted the health care centers in Shahba and Til Rifat town and caused damages in the centers. NuJINHA spoke to the women living in the town of Til Rifat about the effects of attacks on them.
“People are forced to leave the town”
Fatma Ömer, a displaced woman of Afrin living in the town of Til Rifat, told us that the Turkish forces constantly fire howitzers and artillery in the region. “The health care center in the town was targeted while there were people inside it. Turkey targeted it because it knew that there were civilians inside it in order to create fear in civilians. The aim of the attacks is to depopulate Til Rifat. We condemn the ongoing attacks. Turkey violates human rights here. But we will always fight in order to return to our homeland.”
“Marketplace and health care center were targeted”
Emine Ömer emphasized that the civilians are targeted in the attacks. “We left Afrin due to the attacks of the occupying Turkish state. But it continues to attack us here. The occupying Turkish state always targets civilians and their houses. It targeted the marketplace and health care center. As resisting people, we will always stand by our children in the battlefields. They cannot break our will,” she told us.
Call on the international community
Ferida Mihemed, a displaced woman of Afrin, calls on the international community to end the Turkish attacks. “We call on the international community and human rights organizations to take a stand against the Turkish state. The Turkish state should stop targeting civilians and withdraw from NE Syria. Thousands of people have lost their lives in the Turkish attacks. Enough is enough. We will stay here and we will not go elsewhere. We hope to return to Afrin.”
