Sanandaj- The author of the books “زیبا (English: Beautiful)” and “و این نیز نگذرد (English: And this did not pass)”, Iranian writer Sahar Rezaei says that her interest in producing and art prompted her to write and that writing freely and with great passion opens the doors to an even more meaningful world. We spoke to her about her books and her writing journey. Actually, she spoke, we listened to her. We met her on a park bench. While listening to the poems in her books, we found ourselves in front of the monument of the Kurdish poet, writer, and historian Mastura Ardalan, who lived in the 1800s.

She tells stories of women in her books

Iranian writer Sahar Rezaei has a master's degree in mining engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tehran. “I still work as a mining engineer. Mining engineering is my profession while writing is my choice and passion. I have been interested in art, writing, and theatre since my childhood, and my interest in writing and writing stories has increased in recent years,” she told NuJINHA.

“The writing is a great art”

Both of her books have different characters and personalities but the main characters of her books are women and the stories are about women. Sahar Rezaei thinks that writing is a very important and great art. Sahar Rezaei told us that she is always aware that she will dedicate herself to the art of writing at some point in her life, even if no one supports her.

“I try to be a good writer”

Since Sahar Rezaei began to write, she hasn’t found a good writer to help her but she has been supported by her friends and relatives. She told us she has been supported mostly by her cousin. “I got to know the best-known writers and their books thanks to my cousin,” she said, “I try to be a good writer. Maybe I will not be like Albert Camus, but I will do my best to be a good writer.”

“Women writers face many challenges”

Pointing out that women writers face many challenges, Sahar Rezaei told us that she overcomes all challenges by saying, “They are not too big to overcome.” Stating that she tried to bring “respect, feelings and love” together in her first book, Sahar Rezaei said, “In my first book, I tell the story of a woman, who falls in love with a man from another village. The book tells her love, feelings, and life.”

“Loves in rural areas are more valuable”

Sahar Rezaei underlined that all people know how “love” is in cities, but that love experienced in villages and rural areas is more valuable because they are purer, “So I try to write about feelings in rural areas in my first book. It tells the feelings of the young woman, who returns to her village after leaving her village for a while.”

Her second book is about gender inequality

The second book of Sahar Rezaei is “زیبا (English: Beautiful)”. It tells the story of a beautiful woman. Sahar Rezaei tries to discuss the concept of beauty in society in this book. “Ziba is the first character in my story and it is about gender inequality in our society.”

“If a woman accepts herself…”

“Ziba” is an intelligent woman who often faces social pressures not because of her beauty but because of her self-confidence. “The message of her story is actually that if a woman accepts herself, neither her appearance nor the social pressure can stand in her way,” Sahar Rezaei said.

Sahar Rezaei read the poems in her books in front of the monument of the Kurdish poet, writer, and historian Mastura Ardalan.
