Painter Solîn Osê: The most beautiful feeling is to be able to draw your dreams

“The most beautiful feeling is to be able to draw your dreams,” said Kurdish painter Solîn Osê, who started drawing when she was a child. She told us that she was able to draw her dreams thanks to the women’s revolution in Rojava.

Qamishlo- Art is an expression of emotions, thoughts, intuitions and desires. Some people express their feelings and thoughts through art. One of them, painter Solîn Osê lives in Qamishlo, a city of North and East Syria. She says painting is her passion.

‘My teacher encouraged me’

Solîn Osê told NuJINHA her painting journey. “When I was a child, I loved drawing and I drew whenever I found a piece of paper. My interest in painting caught my teacher's interest. My teacher always told me, ‘You should be a professional painter, you should improve yourself’. My teacher encouraged me to draw more. I began to express my feelings, thoughts and intuitions through painting.”

 

She reflects her imagination in her paintings

 Noting that she generally reflects her imagination in her paintings, Solîn Osê said, “Whenever I paint, I feel relaxed. When I watched women ballet dancers on TV in my childhood, I wanted to draw them. I can say that the most beautiful feeling is to be able to draw your dreams.”

 

She reflects the reality of war in her paintings

 “People express their feelings and thoughts by using different ways,” Solîn Osê said, “As a painter; I express my feelings and thoughts through painting. I can see freedom in my paintings. The feeling of freedom reflected in painting is the most beautiful feeling. Because painting is the language that express all feelings. Our country suffers from a war. That’s why I paint the real face of war and its consequences. I tell the situation in my country to the world through my paintings.”

 

She studied photography at the Rojava University

 Solîn Osê studied photography at the Rojava University. Although she loves taking photographs, she preferred to be a professional painter. “After graduating from the department of photography, I started studying art at the Rojava University to improve myself. I drew 25 oil paintings at the university.”

‘I realize my dreams now thanks to the women’s revolution in Rojava’

 

Solîn Osê has also participated in many international and national art projects until now. “I realize my dreams now thanks to the women’s revolution in Rojava. My aim is to use my art to serve my people. I have many projects to carry out. One of them is to paint my city.”
