NE Syria’s Jineology Academy presented the book entitled “Historical foundations and future of women's revolution”.
Qamishlo- NE Syria’s Jineology Academy held an activity at Qamishlo’s Reading Garden to present the book entitled “Historical foundations and future of women's revolution”. We spoke to Şervin Nudem, a member of the academy, about the book.
Speaking about the name of the book, Şervin Nudem said, “Today, we came together to present the book published by the academy. We began to write this book three years ago to understand the historical foundations of the women’s revolution. We wanted to learn the effects of the Neolithic period on women and the social problems faced by women. In the book, we point out the impact of the Kurdistan Revolution on women and society in general and the roles of women in the Revolution in Rojava. We also write women’s expectations for the future. We conducted research on people from all nations in the Cizre region. We included all women in the writing of the book. We listened to the stories of old women. Many of these women are not alive today. As a result of this research, we opened the Jineology centers in many places.”
Women write their own history
Stating that the book is written in Kurdish, Şervin Nudem told us that the book will be translated into many languages soon. Underlining that the number of copies of the published book is 2000, Şervin Nudem said, “If needed, we will publish more copies. The book was written with the efforts of many people, particularly women in Rojava. Men write history from their own point of view. For this reason, books written by women are needed. Women write their own history now. Publishing this book is an important step for us.”
