Bêdlis (Bitlis)- The nature and historical beauties of the city of Bitlis have been waiting to be discovered. One of the most interesting places for tourists in the city, is the cluster houses located in the Hizan district. Both directors and photographers show great interest in the houses made of stones and wood. If these 300-year-old houses are not restored and taken under protection, they will fall apart day by day.
These two or three-story cluster houses are built in groupings which are close to each other. Hizan is a mountainside district and many villages are built on the mountainside. The cluster houses made of stone and wood have not collapsed for 300 years.
It is a destination for photographers and filmmakers
The cluster houses in the Uzuntaş village arouse the interest of photographers and filmmakers. The village is used for a movie shooting every year. The village attracts foreign tourists and domestic tourists especially in the autumn. They visit the village to take photos of the houses.
The houses start to fall apart
Despite their architectural beauty, these houses have started to fall apart due to neglect. Although the villagers have demanded for protection and restoration of the houses, the stones of the houses are falling one by one because no measures have been taken to protect the houses. The villagers trying to rebuild their houses with their own means, have to use concrete to rebuild them. The villagers told NuJINHA that all cluster houses in the village will be destroyed if no measures are taken to protect them.
