News Center- İsmet Alkanü mother of Zekiye Alkan died of a heart attack in a hospital in Izmir province on Sunday. After a funeral ceremony at Narlıdere Cemevi today, she will be laid to rest in Narlıdere Cemetery in Izmir.

Zekiye Alkan, a medical student at Dicle University in Diyarbakır, climbed the historical walls of Diyarbakır Fortress and set herself on fire on March 21, 1990 to protest the oppression against the Kurdish people.
