Hasakah- Since Turkey, Russia and Iran had a meeting in Tehran on July 19, the Turkish state has intensified its attacks on North and East Syria. On July 22, the Turkish state carried out attacks in North and East Syria and killed three female revolutionary commanders in Qamishlo and a civilian and injured four civilians, including two women, in Tell Tamer. Zehra Şahîn, a resident of Tell Tamer’s Micêbira village, which was targeted by Turkish artillery shells for days, spoke to NuJINHA about the Turkish attacks on their village.
The villagers were woken up by the sound of artillery fires
The village of Micêbira, one of the villages hit by dozens of artillery fires, is located on the international highway known as Qamishlo-Til Temir Highway or M4. On July 24, the villagers were woken up by the sound of artillery fires. As the sky was covered with dust and smoke, one of the shells fell near a family having breakfast. A civilian was killed and 10 civilians were injured in the attacks carried out on that day.
“Civilians were targeted”
“At 7 am, the invaders started shelling our village. We had to leave the village to find a safe place. A shell hit the house of my aunt's son and killed him. Erdoğan is the first responsible for this shelling. Civilians were targeted in the attack. Our neighbor, an old man, was injured in the attack but he survived. Every day, we are woken up by the sound of artillery fires,” Zehra Şahîn told us.
Stating that many villagers were injured and their houses were destroyed during the attack, Zehra Şahîn said, “When they fire artillery, the village becomes invisible due to the dust and smoke caused by the artillery fires. On July 24, our village degenerated into a bloodbath. The screams of women and children were heard everywhere. We have suffered from this situation for years. Since the defeat of ISIS, the Turkish state has attacked our village.”
“We will never leave our village”
Indicating that these attacks should stop now, Zehra Şahîn said, “Many people are killed, women and children are injured every day. Enough is enough. The invaders should leave our country. This is our land. Despite all attacks, we will never leave our village.”
