Amed_Attempts to spread drugs and prostitution in the cities of North Kurdistan represent one of the important aspects of what is described as special war policies targeting the will of young people and the lives of women, these policies, which push young people into the spiral of addiction and dissolution, and target women through their bodies, aim to dismantle the social fabric. As the struggle against drug and prostitution networks, which have become more visible in neighborhoods, intensifies, women and young people call for organized struggle, saying: "We do not accept this system."
In various neighborhoods of Amed, the "Kuçe Amed" organization and the Youth Council of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Parti Gençlik Meclisi) carried out guard and protest activities against drugs and prostitution, and called for organized struggle against special war policies.
The young women participating in these activities affirmed that drug and prostitution policies target young people and society, and called on young people to organize and confront them.
We Will Not Allow Drugs to Pass
Havroş Taşkın stated that they are present in the neighborhoods to confront what she describes as special war policies and drugs. "Special war policies are being implemented in many cities of North Kurdistan. Young people are being deliberately targeted. Our youth must stay away from drugs and prostitution. We must organize our youth ranks and move away from these policies."
She added: "Our young women must not fall victim to these policies that target them. Women, their bodies, and their dignity represent a fundamental value, yet women are being deliberately targeted. These policies seek to distance young people and women from awareness and weaken their role in society, ultimately destroying young people's future."
From here, she emphasizes that "young women must organize themselves and participate actively in confronting these policies, and everyone must come together to stand against them," concluding: "We must stand together against these policies, and we will not allow drugs to spread among our youth."
"The Solution Is That We Unite"
She said these policies aim to distance young people from their identity, language, and culture, adding: "They want to separate young people from their roots and origin. The solution to confronting this is clear: we must unite and stand against these policies. We must stand by each other. If we cannot protect ourselves, we cannot protect anything else."
She referred to the peace and democratic society process: "There is currently a process being worked on, and we young people must be part of it. Young people are being separated from everything. Through these policies, they want to deprive us of the future. Let us come together and light our path. Let us build a strong organization and a strong future."
Zozan Çevçi noted that the spread of prostitution and drugs in North Kurdistan today comes, in her description, as a result of what she calls "special war policies," affirming that confronting these policies requires organized efforts in various cities, villages, and neighborhoods of North Kurdistan.
She said that confronting these phenomena should not be limited to a specific area or city, but must extend to every neighborhood and street, noting that young people are being subjected to policies aimed at pushing them toward drugs and distancing them from their roots and identity. She added that there is determination to return to roots and strengthen the connection to them.
She affirmed that young people constitute an essential element in maintaining social cohesion, and that is why these policies specifically target them, considering that weakening the energy of young people means weakening, subjugating, and silencing society.
She called for organizing events and initiatives not limited to Amed's neighborhoods, but encompassing various regions of North Kurdistan, emphasizing the necessity of youth, women, and all segments of society participating in confronting these phenomena and policies.
