Yemen- Thousands of Palestinians have been killed and injured in the Israeli strikes on Gaza since October 7. In an interview with NuJINHA, Yemeni women condemned the international silence against the crimes committed against the people in Gaza by Israel.

‘Genocidal attacks are carried out’

“More than three months have passed since the attacks on Gaza began,” said Lara Walid, a student at the Faculty of Arts in the city of Taiz. “Due to the international and regional failure and silence, genocidal attacks are carried out in Gaza, civilians are killed, civilian infrastructure are targeted and destroyed. We should support the case brought to the International Court of Justice by South Africa so that Israel can be held responsible for its crimes and violations against civilians in Gaza.”

‘The international and regional community remains silent’

“What is happening in Gaza is a heinous crime against humanity,” said Sarah Al-Ariqi, member of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate. “Israel commits violations against civilians in Gaza in front of the international community and humanitarian organizations. Due to the international and regional failure, Israel carried out attacks targeting men, women and children. The United Nations always claim that they protect humanity, why do they remain neutral against what has been happening in Gaza? The war on Gaza is a Zionist war in which Israel aims to eliminate Muslims. Before Israel started its war on Gaza on October 7, it had committed many crimes against Palestinians. For decades, we have witnessed brutal violations committed against Palestinians while the international and regional community remains silent.

‘Israel should be held responsible’

Commenting on the case that was brought to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) by South Africa, she said, “It is a positive step to break the international silence against genocidal crimes committed by Israel in Gaza. Israel should be held responsible for its crimes in Gaza. We urge all countries to stand with South Africa.”

‘We should unite’

“What has been happening in Gaza is a genocidal crime against defenseless civilians,” said activist Noura Hujaira. “I am a mother and I always fear that something will happen to children. I feel sorry for the mothers in Gaza, especially those who have lost their children. The international and regional community do not even try to take a step to put an end to these brutal violations against innocent civilians. Since October 7, the International Court of Justice has wasted time by collecting evidence in order not to accuse Israel. I hope that all countries support South Africa. We should unite to put an end to the violations suffered by the Palestinian people.”

‘Palestinians are subjected to persecution because they refuse to leave their homes’

“The Palestinian issue is a humanitarian issue that must be supported,” Sarah Al-Aghbari said, “Palestinians are subjected to persecution and injustice because they refuse to leave their homes. Israel kills them and commits the most heinous crimes against them. More than 100 days have passed since Israel started a war on Gaza. 100 days may be a short period for us but it is a long time for the people of Gaza. They suffer from siege, lack of food, water medicine. Their living conditions are deteriorating due to the failure and silence of the international community.”
