Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate demands immediate release of journalists

The Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate has issued a statement, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of journalists held captive in the prisons of the Houthis and the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

News Center- the Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate issued a statement on Tuesday to mark Yemeni Press Day, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of journalists held captive in the prisons of the Houthis and the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

In the statement, the Syndicate expressed its deep concern over the intransigence of controlling parties in Sana’a and Aden, and their persistent refusal to cooperate with efforts to release the abducted journalists.

For over a decade, journalists in Yemen have suffered from killing, abduction, torture, persecution, the closure of media outlets and displacement, the statement stressed, condemning the systematic starvation policy faced by journalists due to the suspension of salaries for media workers, which further deteriorates their living conditions.

The syndicate praised the struggle of Yemeni journalists, calling on the international community and human rights organizations to put pressure on the parties to the conflict to protect press freedom in Yemen.
