Shengal — Amid the intensifying attacks targeting the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo, Yazidi women in Shengal announced their full solidarity with the peoples of North and East Syria, stressing that the struggle of the people is an existential battle from which there can be no retreat.

Zozan Simo, a member of the Yazidi Women’s Freedom Movement (TAJÊ), condemned the attacks against the people of Aleppo, affirming that the people will not be broken by these assaults, will not abandon their land or cities, and will stand firm against aggression.
“Wherever the people rise and remain steadfast, great resistance is achieved. We salute the resistance of the people of Aleppo; the people’s battle is a battle for existence,” she said.

She added, “When we were attacked, the people of Rojava stood by us with all their capabilities and did not leave us alone. We will never forget those days with our people and fighters. If the road opens toward the region, we as Yazidi women are ready to go and provide support.”

Zozan Simo reiterated that the sacrifices of fighters who gave their lives defending their people will remain alive in memory. “Dozens of fighters sacrificed their lives before our eyes. In the darkest circumstances, the people of Rojava stood by us, opened humanitarian corridors, shared water and bread with us, and embraced us for many years. Today, amid the harsh winter, residents are being forced to leave their homes because of this war.”

She asked, “Where is conscience, and where is humanity? Every day new lives are lost and blood is shed in the streets. Just as we demand freedom for Shengal, we also raise our voices for the freedom of Rojava. We, the sons and daughters of Shengal, stand united with Rojava and declare our full support for its resistance.”

Ready to Cross the Borders

In conclusion, Zozan Simo called on everyone to confront the attacks. “We call on every human being to raise their voice against these assaults. The war must end, and the killing and bloodshed must stop. Rojava is not alone. If it needs the support of our youth and our spirit, we are always ready to stand with it. If necessary, we as Yazidi women will cross the borders to support the people of Rojava.”

For her part, Sawsan Siya, a member of the Setiya Naqsha Center for Culture and Art, emphasized the importance of solidarity and declared her readiness to head to North and East Syria, expressing her absolute rejection of the attacks by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham jihadists and Turkish occupation mercenaries.

She added, “As young Yazidi women and members of the Setiya Naqsha cultural and artistic center, we strongly condemn the war imposed on the people of Aleppo. Just as the people of Rojava stood by us in 2014, we as the youth of Shengal will remain by their side until the end. If Rojava is victorious, the resistance of Aleppo will also prevail. If the road opens today, we are ready to go and fight in its ranks. We will continue supporting the people of Rojava until the end.”
