Yazidi Women: The Attacks on Rojava Target the Thought of Leader Öcalan and the Women’s Revolution

The attacks on Rojava target the women’s revolution and the thought of Leader Öcalan, which has become a foundation for dignity and social development. The resistance of fighters, both men and women, in Rojava represents a global model.

Shengal – Yazidi women from Shengal affirmed that the women’s revolution embodies the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Öcalan, stressing that “this thought represents the foundation of social upbringing.”

Keni Khidr began her speech by commemorating all the martyrs of Rojava, including those who fell in the recent battles. She explained that the thought of Leader Öcalan has been embodied through the Democratic Nation system, and that the attacks on Rojava are nothing but a direct targeting of this thought.

“We first commemorate all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Rojava, including Martyr Ziad Halab and Martyr Deniz Jiya, and we salute all the fighters who are waging this fierce battle,” she said.

She emphasized her rejection and condemnation of the massacres and genocides imposed on the Kurdish people, whether ethnic, cultural, or geographical.

“The thought of the Leader forms the basis of social life, as it embodies the values of humanity and equality, and teaches that a single loaf of bread can be shared by thousands to eat together,” she added.

Khidr confirmed that Leader Öcalan’s thought has spread everywhere and has become a foundation for dignity.

“The ruling authorities fear this thought because it represents the essence of humanity. The massacres committed against the Kurdish people today are merely attempts to undermine this thought, yet despite that, it has flourished and spread across the world,” she stated.

She further explained that Leader Öcalan’s thought has taken root from the mountains to Shengal, and from Rojava to Eastern and Northern Kurdistan, stressing that it is a thought that does not accept humiliation or defeat.

“The Kurdish and Yazidi people have never sought the throne of tyrants; they only demand their natural right to live peacefully and justly on their own land and within their own spaces,” she said.

Khidr stressed that this people have always sought peace, but will resist to the very end anyone who brings war to their homes. Just as fighters confront spies who kill their sons, assault their daughters, and commit brutal gang-like acts, the people will never abandon their land.

“We want our rights and we will resist. We will not hand over Shengal or Kobani to anyone,” she declared.

“We Always Follow the Thought of Leader Öcalan”

Keni Khidr affirmed that all fighters currently engaged in battles in Rojava are deeply influenced by the thought of Leader Öcalan.

“We will continue to follow his path until the end and defend ourselves through this thought. We will stand by our people in Kobani, Afrin, and all of Rojava as long as we are alive. Wherever Leader Öcalan’s thought exists, we will be there. If there is no Rojava, there will be no Shengal either. Therefore, Yazidis must realize that the attacks are not only against Rojava, but against the Kurds and Kurdistan as a whole. We call on everyone to reject war and support peace. Enough betrayal and the killing of women and children,” she said.

She also pointed out that some victims were killed by armed groups who did not stop at murder, but burned the bodies, filmed their crimes, and sent the images to the victims’ families. She stressed that such atrocities must never be repeated and expressed hope that these crimes would soon come to an end.

She concluded by saying:

“We will stand with the resistance of Rojava until the end. Long live the fighters, men and women, who are fighting on the front lines to liberate our land from the hands of armed groups. As Yazidi women and the Yazidi community, we will remain loyal to the thought and philosophy of Leader Öcalan, we will never abandon it, and we will continue to support it until the end, standing with the fighters’ resistance for freedom and for Rojava.”

“Rojava Is the Land of the Women’s Revolution”

For her part, Bisi Avesta stated that the attacks currently being launched on Rojava are not merely military assaults, but attacks targeting the thought of Leader Öcalan and the women’s revolution that emerged there.

“This thought has spread throughout the world, and the women’s revolution, which was founded on the resistance of women fighters, was a direct result of Leader Öcalan’s philosophy. Today, the women who follow this thought are facing attacks in Rojava, and their resistance is unparalleled in the world,” she said.

She emphasized that Yazidi women draw inspiration from this resistance as a role model, while simultaneously educating themselves in the thought and philosophy of Leader Öcalan.

Avesta stressed that Yazidi women today are no longer the same as they were in 2014 when they fell into the hands of ISIS, but have become more aware and resilient thanks to Leader Öcalan’s thought.

“As Yazidi women and as a Yazidi community, we drew our strength from the women of Rojava. We are no longer the women who were attacked, enslaved, and killed in 2014. Today, we unite with the thought of Leader Öcalan and build our self-defense upon it,” she concluded.
