News Center — Iran is experiencing escalating military tensions amid the widening scope of regional confrontations and increasing attacks targeting various areas across the country and Eastern Kurdistan. This has led to a sharp rise in civilian casualties and growing fears of further violence.
On Wednesday, March 4, HRANA reported that Israeli–U.S. attacks on Eastern Kurdistan and Iran have resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 civilians and injuries to over 5,000 others since the start of the military escalation.
According to the agency’s data, 1,197 civilians have been killed, including 181 children under the age of 18. The number of injured civilians has reached 5,402, among them 115 children.
HRANA added that the joint military operations, which began on February 28, are ongoing without interruption. Over the past 24 hours alone, Israel and the United States reportedly targeted 34 locations in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, further increasing human and material losses. The casualty figures reflect the scale and severity of the escalation and its impact on civilians.
Condemnation of School Bombing
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor condemned the massacre at the Minab school in southern Iran following Israeli–U.S. missile strikes, which resulted in the deaths of 171 girls.
In a statement published on the social media platform X, the organization stated that targeting educational facilities in the context of military operations constitutes “a serious violation of the rules protecting civilians” and undermines guarantees provided under international humanitarian law.
According to official media outlets, the airstrikes targeted the Shajarat Tayyiba Primary Girls’ School in Minab, located in Hormozgan province in southern Iran, killing and injuring dozens of students during the first day of the attacks.
On Tuesday, Minab witnessed large funeral processions attended by thousands mourning the schoolgirls killed in the bombing, amid widespread anger and grief.
In the same context, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights called on those responsible for the attack to conduct a transparent investigation and disclose available information regarding the circumstances of the school’s targeting, stressing the need to hold accountable those involved in violations against children and educational institutions.
