News Center- 120 organizations, including Women and LGBTI organizations, professional organizations, political parties, will hold a demonstration called, “We don’t give up on the Istanbul Convention” in Istanbul’s Maltepe district on June 19 to protest Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. The organizations have issued a statement to invite everyone to join the demonstration.

“We know that we are together and very strong against the attacks on our lives and rights, and we keep shouting; we will be in Maltepe, Istanbul on June 19 at 13.00,” the statement says.

The statement continues as follows;

“We don’t give up on the Istanbul Convention! We don’t give up on the equality ideal of the Istanbul Convention! We do not give up on our demand for an equal and free life without violence! We do not give up on our efforts to implement gender equality in every part of life and demanding the policies to be implemented for the establishment of equality! We don’t give up our lives, rights, and equality!

…We will come together on June 19 and we keep shouting! We don’t give up on the Istanbul Convention!

We continue to shout that we will together protect the rights that we have gained as a result of our long struggle!

We know that we are together and very strong against the attacks on our lives and rights, and we keep shouting!

We will be in Maltepe, Istanbul on June 19 at 13.00!

We don’t keep silent! We don’t fear! We do not obey! We do not give up on the Istanbul Convention!

We invite all women and LGBTI+s – organized or unorganized – to join this demonstration that 120 women and LGBTI organizations, labor and professional organizations, political parties, initiatives, and platforms will organize. We are one less without you.”
