News Center- The Site Search Report called “Women search for their rights on Goggle” prepared by kadinhaklari.org based on internet searches in January-December 2020 reveals that women speaking Turkish in at least 49 countries were subjected to violence. The women faced violence the most in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, and Austria. The report also reveals that the women were forced into marriage in at least 10 countries, including France, Turkmenistan, Greece, Sweden, Austria, Armenia, England, Germany, Cyprus and Azerbaijan.

According to the report, women searched what are their rights if they are forced into a marriage, if their brothers or husbands beat them. The report shows that the rate of women searching for their rights increased in April; the search for “I'm being forced into marriage” increased by 228%, “My brother beats me” increased by 295%, “My husband beats me" increased by 175%.

‘Women use the internet because…’

“Women use the internet because it is not always easy to tell the police or their relatives about the violence they are subjected to. The reactions from those who are around them and the legal system can prevent them from asking for help about the violence they are subjected to. Search engines provide a space for women to get rid of these concerns and get information anonymously,” said the executives of kadinhaklari.org.
