Morocco- Oxfam has launched a project called, “Women’s Voice and Leadership” in Morocco on November 30 with the Moroccan National Human Rights Council as part of the Women’s Voice and Leadership Program of Canada’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and of International Development. The project aims to respond to the needs of local organizations to defend human rights in 30 countries around the world, including Morocco. Oxfam held a meeting to announce the project on November 30.

Women should be empowered

Neil Stewart, the ambassador of Canada in Rabat, said her country works to provide strong support in promoting women's rights and status. Pointing to the increase of violence against women in private and public, rural areas, Neil Stewart emphasized that the violence pandemic has increased during the pandemic. Stressing that they stand by gender equality, she said that empowering women and girls is the best way to build a peaceful world.

The “Women's Voice and Leadership” program aims to promote gender equality as well as empower women and girls. The program also aims to increase and strengthen women's participation in human rights organizations. During the meeting, Mounir Bensalah, the president of the Moroccan National Human Rights Council, said the meeting took place to combat all forms of violence against women.
